I discovered Perdita as a completely run down and emaciated horse in a barn in Tegernsee.  The mare's head was pulled down with sidereins, and she wore horse shoes like a heavy carthorse, each of them equipped with two pins – I still keep these shoes here.  If I hadn't bought Perdita spontaneously, she would for sure have vanished in a slaughterhouse ...

For me and our barn she rewrote the American dream from rags to riches with a Trakehner main character.  It took a long time until Perdita looked like a nice horse again and until she trusted in men again.  She rewarded our treatment with great devotion – and with her heritage, on which our breeding founds.

This was how I discovered Perdita

This was how Perdita looked after one year in Zellsee

Her sire Fango, described as a "substantial, solid stallion with a good body and strong legs; very impressive trot and canter", was used in Wäldershausen stud of the Quandt family for some years, before he was sold to Switzerland at age seven.  His heritage in German Trakehner breed consists of 16 registered daughters.  The grey stallion's pedigree is highlighted by marvellous Pregel, tough sport horse producer Pelion and Vornholz based Intermezzo.

Perdita's dam Patella was only six years old, when she died from volvulus.  Besides Perdita, she also gave birth to Patricia XII by Protector.  She had been sired by the interesting half-blood Viertakt, her dam Patricia is a product of genius breeder Curt Krebs himself.  Patricia's flawless breeding performance records 14 foals in 14 years, among her offspring were four broodmares including one for the American Trakehner breed, and five show horses, which were successful in regional horse shows.

Perdita will stay in our memories forever, not only because of her unique character, but also - and from a breeder's point of view mainly - because of her brillant filly:

Per Du by Unkensee, which is pictured above during our very first foal marking event in Zellse
